Admission & Enrolment Procedure
The admission procedure at Holbrook College of London is as follows:
→ Step 1 - Apply
Once a student has decided on the course they wish to study, they must complete an application form. This can be completed online or by hand and returned to the college together with two passport-sized photographs and copy of the passport. We also require copies of all educational qualifications for evaluation by the admissions committee.
N.B. Unless specified otherwise, there is no official closing date for applications. Students are advised to apply early enough to allow them time to arrive for the new term.
→ Step 2 - Making an Offer
Once the college has received the application form together with a pre-enrolment form and supporting documents, it will be reviewed by the Admission Officer and the college will make a conditional offer by email and/or letter if the student has passed the initial assessment. Students can expect to receive a decision within 7 working days of receiving their complete application.
→ Step 3 - Accepting the Offer
In order to accept an offer from the College, overseas students will be required to pay part of their tuition fees, as described in their conditional offer letter. Students can pay the entirety of their tuition fees in advance as the British High Commission can extend special consideration to visa applicants who have made such payments. Once the college has received the tuition fees, students will be issued with an Official unconditional offer letter or Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) only with this document a student will be able to apply for a student visa.
The college will normally send its correspondence through Royal Mail's international service. International students are encouraged to request a courier delivery to fast track the receipt of their letter.
→ Step 4 - Accommodation
If a student would like the College to reserve their temporary accommodation early so that they are able to send student a booking confirmation letter in support of their visa application, the student will be required to pay a minimum deposit of £600 for the host family accommodation or £400 for single or shared room. It is a month's rent of accommodation that the college arranges for a student.
→ Step 5 - Final Registration
If the visa application is successful, students are advised to inform HCL of this as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements for their arrival in the UK. Once students have arrived in the UK they will be required to report to the College in order to complete any outstanding procedures and formalities. Students will need to pay the balance of their first year's tuition fees before the commencement of their course.
→ Step 6 - Inductions
The students first week here at HCL will be the Induction Week. The final time-table will usually be distributed on the Induction Day. Activities during Induction Week will include:
» A tour of the college.
» Health and safety introduction and explanation of the procedure in case of fire alarms and other emergencies.
